Come Run or Walk with Us!
USA Fit is pleased to announce it’s third annual marathon and half marathon on January 16, 2011, once again in Sugar Land. We've named the event "Everyone's Marathon" because we think all athletes--no matter what their pace--should have the chance to enjoy the race experience. We are also excited to announce that we are adding an additional event this year – a 5K!
We bring the USA Fit philosophy of fun and camaraderie to the marathon course and are including all levels of runners and walkers -- all the way up to a full 8-hour finish time. Our course is flat and easily accessible to spectators, so anticipate plenty of company along the route.
We’re sure you’ll really enjoy the race. Our inaugural marathon in January 2009 was well attended and got rave reviews from the participants. Last January we improved the course and made room for triple the participants. The course is certified, and it's a Boston qualifier for those speedier folks looking to travel east next fall. You’ll be well supported with fluids, aid stations, and medical personnel. And of course everyone gets a great finishers’ medal, T-shirt, and official timing.
Age Limits:
Marathon – 13 years old
Half Marathon – 9 years old
5K – no age limit if accompanied by parent. No strollers or pets.
All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult on the marathon or half marathon course.
The City of Sugar Land once again welcomes the USA FIT Marathon/Half Marathon and 5K participants to our beautiful, friendly and fit city.
The 2010 event proved to all spectators, volunteers and participants that the USA FIT – Sugar Land Marathon/Half was truly “Everyone’s Marathon”. For Boston Marathon qualifying runners to participants walking the entire event in 8 hours – the day could not have been more spectacular.
The City turned out in force as volunteers from Fort Bend Independent School District, local businesses, churches, Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, running/athletic clubs, and City employees cheered runners and walkers to the finish line.
Sugar Land has recently created The Mayor’s Physical Fitness Council (MPFC) made up of key fitness and wellness advocates in the community. Our vision statement says it all “To encourage community organizations to effectively promote the health, physical fitness, and wellness in Sugar Land”. In July 2010, the MPFC received a grant from the Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness.
We are glad you're here and are pulling out all the stops to make sure your experience here is first-class in every respect. Feel free to spend the weekend here enjoying all that we have to offer.
Mayor James A. Thompson
